Diwali is the largest and the most important festival of India, to the scale of the Christmas and New Year’s celebration. Diwali celebrates the victory of good over evil, where every household lights colorful lamps to welcome Goddess Lakshmi, symbol of wealth and prosperity. Hosted by Federation of Indo-Americans of Northern California, a non-profit organization under section 501(c)3 this year Grand Diwali Mela will happen on Saturday, October 7th, 2017 at Alameda county Fair Grounds, Pleasanton.
This is the only Diwali mela in Bay area with live fireworks and a laser light show. We would like to remind all our sponsors that this Diwali mela is the only mela in entire Bay area with grand fireworks and a laser light display and more than 35,000 people attended the event in 2015. Attendance to the carnival has been very encouraging and we are hopeful that this year we will touch close to 50,000 attendees. Besides the Bay area, we are expecting people from neighboring cities including Tracy, Fairfield, Sacramento.
